The project draws inspiration from Mats Bergquist’s work The Architect’s Dream, featuring a two-storey timber house characterised by clean, simple lines. Two concrete pavilions, separated by a narrow strip of water, house the main residence and the garage with its annexe. The site, a hillside at the foot of the Venetian Pre-Alps, is ideal for eco-friendly and energy-efficient buildings.
The house is constructed using eco-friendly materials, including austenitic steel, natural wool, cellular glass and formaldehyde-free timber. The X-lam timber structure is clad with Accoya timber strips, featuring integrated sunshades. The north- and south-facing glazed areas offer sweeping views. The reinforced concrete pavilions are separated by a thermal reservoir. The roof houses a photovoltaic system and a roof garden.
The mechanical system utilises geothermal energy and water-to-water heat pumps, whilst the mechanical ventilation system recovers heat. Radiant panels provide heating and cooling. A KNX home automation system integrates all the home’s devices, from access control to video surveillance.
The design combines a domestic volume in timber with a representative volume featuring a garden, with the natural element running through the entire space, from the patio to the roof garden.
